  1. Hello Echoh,
I believe that one must recognize the abstract elements first in any approach to realism.
While recently viewing some work by the American painter Winslow Homer, I was simply amazed by the level of pure abstraction in his seascapes. I think if you look at any realist/representational painter from Rembrandt, Titian, Sargent to contemporaries like Jacob Collins, Daniel Gerhartz or Ted Jacobs you see this understanding and marriage of abstraction inside of representational reality. So certainly your concept is correct, but what needs to be thought out is what type of imagery you are using. The majority of fantasy art imagery relies on a sense of hyper realism to convey a different reality.
Look into the blog of James Gurney of Dinotopia fame. gurneyjourney.blogspot.com
This is probably precious as a keep sake box.

    All the best.

  2. Thank you for your comment. This is actually my second painting I have attempted, considering I've never taken an art class since Elementary School. I also used cheap, old materials to accomplish it with so your constructive criticism was much appreciated so I had somewhere to go off of. I will keep your views in mind on my next venture.

  3. You are really a great painter..your amazing!
